The latest big news of the day is that Sony and Immersion, the company that sued them for patent infringements on their force feedback technology (the Dual Shock), have settled and will now “work together”. Sony’s Kaz Hirai had these words to say:
We look forward to exploring with Immersion exciting new ways to bring the largest and best range of gameplay experiences to our customers. We are very excited about our new partnership with Immersion and the potential for new and innovative products incorporating their technologies.
Although this doesn’t mean that we’ll see SIXAXISDUOSHOCK controller anytime soon (hey, you heard the name here first), Immersion’s head said that they hope “to make technical proposals very soon with respect to use of our technology in the PlayStation products.”
So what do you think folks, we’ll we see a Rumble-enabled SIXAXIS anytime soon? Perhaps in time for this Christmas?
