Xvid, the popular free alternative to the proprietary Divx video codec library has recently been added to Quicktime’s components page. One can only hope that soon iTunes, and Apple TV, will also support the format after a software update.
It would be much better than the hacker’s alternative of opening up and messing with it’s innards.
