Remember the My Dream App contest? Well, if you don’t, it was a contest in which users submitted their idea of a dreamy Mac applications, and the visitors would vote on their favorites. One of the contest entries, Atmosphere, which was featured here made it to the finals. The application replaces your desktop’s background for an animated one that reflects the current weather changes in your location.
It appears that Apple like this idea so much, that they have decided to implement something similar in the upcoming Leopard Operative System. This active desktop feature, like Vista, will use the capacity of both the memory and the GPU to deliver animated backgrounds.
Although I’m not a big fan of such distractive things, having some discreet wallpaper that tells me the weather would be nice. And perhaps it will close a few mouths that claim that Vista is better looking than Mac OS X.
