The second patented Apple device comes in the form a mouse. The Mighty Mouse was a bit disappointing to some consumers. I recently bought one, and like it, although I don’t think that it’s revolutionary, or much better than other mice. But that might soon change if Apple chooses to release this device.
According to the patent, the mouse will have two modes of operation depending on how you hold it. If you hold it as you would hold your Mighty Mouse (as shown on the left), you can use the black area to move the cursor on screen, which might prove useful for applications that require a lot of precision.
The other way of operating is is by holding it as a normal mouse, without touching the black area on the left, and just use it as you would a normal mouse, by moving your finger on the center part you scroll, and by clicking on either side you left, or right, click.
It’s quite innovative, compared to all the other offers in the market, but holding the mouse without pressing the dark area seems a bit uncomfortable to me. Still, I trust Apple’s design, and I’m certain that they won’t make a product that is hard, or uncomfortable, to handle.
