I know that this will tingle many Nintendo fanboys’ spines, however, the PSP is a success. Well, at least according this analyst’s impression. According to him, the only way that you can consider the PSP a failure, is if you compare it to the Nintendo DS’ sales:

We forecast that the global installed base of PSP users will be around 29 million at the end of 2007, generating $1.9 billion in software sales. Lifetime software sales at the end of 2007 will be around $4.5 billion. If this is “failing,” then failure just got a huge brand makeover.

As a PSP owner, I have to admit that in terms of innovative software, the PSP has seen better days. I know I can still run homebrew with the latest custom firmware version, but still, I wish that Sony and the programmers would settle for some standard and allow users to exploit the PSP’s capabilities a bit more with different programs.
