According to Trekmovie, in the latest issue of Star Trek Magazine, J.J. Abrams finally let it slip that James T. Kirk would, in fact, be appearing in the film.

Now, that’s the extent of his comment. He didn’t say the film would be ABOUT Kirk, Spock or anyone else…but it is safe to assume, at this point, that we’re going to be looking at a film set during the TOS era.

There is no word on who will actually be playing James T. Kirk…but one would have to assume that it won’t be William Shatner, unless they’ve managed to do some truly astounding things with CG…
