DC has been a really spotty publisher lately. I have always loved the DC characters more than the Marvel ones, but DC has been struggling to keep my interest since the Infinite Crisis let down.
One Year Later didn’t do much for me, but the story in this annual finally answers a question that I’ve been wondering about for a year now. Why didn’t Dick and Babs get hitched?
This annual gives us an incite into their entire history together, and really shows us how their relationship has evolved over the years. Written by Mark Andreyko, the story is a captivating love story that follows the duo from their earlier days as Robin and Batgirl, all the way up to the end of the Infinite Crisis.
It doesn’t give us a solid answer to if they will ever get married, but it does show us why they didn’t a year ago.
The artwork by Joe Bennett is top notch…he was a perfect choice for this book.
If you’re a fan of the characters of Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon, then you MUST pick this book up. This is a character defining story for both of these heroes, and gives us a look at them from a fresh perspective.
Very well done.

1The better question is, “Why didn’t Dick and Bats get hitched?”
