Although this isn’t exactly a brand new format, but instead, yet another faster version of an existing one, I wonder when it will be enough. Sony already has a track record of releasing flash cards for only a handful of compatible devices (at least for the specific speeds that they claim), still, that isn’t stopping them from introducing new ones with the hope that consumers will buy the compatible products once again. It’s an addictive cycle…

Still, these new HG cards have a 30MB per sec transfer rate, which makes them almost three times the speed of common Memory Stick Pro, but the prices also seem to be three times over the average memory sticks. They will cost you, $60, $90 and $150 for the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB respectively.
