Buffalo, another Japanese hardware manufacturer has just released an external DVD burner which allows you record DVDs at 20x, meaning that recording a DVD would only take you around 4 minutes and a half. That’s about the same time I take to burn a CD with my current burners!
The drive costs quite a bit (85€/115$) but since it’s external, and has quite good performance, I think it may just be worth it, if you record a lot of DVDs still. Right now I’m satisfied with the speed I record DVDs at, even though it takes me a little bit over a quarter of an hour.
