Although there were already some rumors floating about, now it’s official. Google has purchased FeedBurner for the amazing quantity of $100 million.

According to the information that TechCrunch received, the deal will be concluded over the next 2 to 3 weeks, but there is nothing that can happen now to impede it.

The founders will remain in the company for at least a couple of years, to assure that the transfer, if one occurs, goes smoothly. But all in all, I think that they couldn’t be happier, since FeedBurner was only founded in 2003.

Although FeedBurner already gave you the option of adding advertisement to your feeds, my guess is that now it will be Adsense exclusive, if it isn’t already (I haven’t checked in a long time). Other than that, you can probably rest assured that it will remain free for everyone. The only difference is that it will probably be integrated into more Google products.
