Dark Horizons reports Producer Joel Silver and Warner Bros. are moving forward with a planned “Masters of the Universe” live-action film. The producer and studio are in negotiations with Mattel to acquire the rights to the property. Newcomer Justin Marks, who recently landed a co-writing gig with David Goyer on the DC prison film “SuperMax,” has been brought on board to pen the script.

Now here’s the “they’re already screwing it up” part…

This new version of He-Man reimagines the property as Prince Adam (He-Man) being a solider who stumbles upon the magical world Eternia where the evil Skeletor is using a technology-fueled army to wipe out all traces of magic.

uhuh…

He-Man has a chance to be a visually amazing action film that could easily be sold as “Conan” meets “Lord of the Rings” in a technology filled fantasy setting….there is no need to make him a soldier, or bring the cosmic key into it…or any of that…ah well…chances are (much like that “Supermax” movie) we’ll never see this hit the screen anyway…

If they’re going to NOT do it right…we already have the 1987 Masters film…why do we need another one?
