And so we meet yet another chapter of the never-ending “my GPU is faster than yours” story. Nvidia has just announced the GeForce 8800 Ultra which will be released on the 15th of this month. This new card offers a performance increase of 10 to 15% compared to the former fastest Nvidia GPU, the GeForce 8800 GTX.
But of course this increase in performance won’t come cheap. The new card will launch with the incredibly high price of $1000, which probably costs more than your current desktop, or close to it.
If I really wanted a top gaming platform for $1000, I would probably purchase a Playstation 3 which performs incredibly well with today’s standards and still has plenty of room for improvement.
