One of the most eagerly awaited titles for the Nintendo Wii is the upcoming version of Super Smash Bros, which has grown into a very popular franchise, even though it started on the ill-fated Nintendo 64. The game’s site had a countdown timer, until not too long ago, but it finally opened today.
This new version, which will feature some popular, and surprising characters, like Solid Snake for example, and greatly detailed models of the “veteran” characters like Super Mario, or Link. I have to admit that Mario has never looked as “bad-ass” as he does on this rendered image.
What’s most surprising about the website right now isn’t the gameplay article or even the characters, it’s the list of the musicians that are participating in the game. Artists from almost all of the major gaming companies are participating in the soundtrack, which will undoubtedly be amazing!
Starting with the legendary Yuzo Koshiro (you may remember his soundtrack from titles like Streets of Rage or Revenge of the Shinobi) to others like Akihiro Honda (who is working on the Metal Gear Solid 4 soundtrack), and quite a few others from various RPGs like Grandia, Wild Arms and Kingdom Hearts!
Even if you don’t like fighting games, right now I think that the title is worth getting just for the soundtrack. I can’t remember the last time so many artists from different companies worked on the same game soundtrack. Heck, I don’t even know if that has ever occurred!
