Master Chief's head on eBay

Master Chief's head on eBay

An interesting eBay auction came up out of nowhere recently. If you’ve been looking forward to getting your hands on the special edition Halo 3 game, that will come with Master Chief’s helmet, then you’ll be happy to hear that you can get the helmet right now. The person who’s selling it says that he acquired it from a Microsoft employee and that it has it’s own serial and everything. I’m no expert, but I guess that it looks authentic enough from the picture, either that, or the guy’s really talented. I’m sold by just how shinny the orange “glass” is. [Via Kotaku] Read more »

Skype announced for Nokia N800

Skype announced for Nokia N800

The day that telecommunication companies have feared for years will arrive soon enough: VOIP on a mobile phone. In July, Nokia will release for it’s N800 device a Skype application for download. Kevin C. from jkOnTheRun recently saw the application running at the Digital Experience show. It won’t support video calls on it’s first version, which isn’t very surprising. Although this won’t give the iPhone a run for it’s money, it could very well convince more people to buy Nokia’s internet tablet. Personally, I’ll wait until those tablets fit in my pocket, nothing personal Nokia, but I like my cellphones small and slim. Read more »

SegaToys announces their first DAP

SegaToys announces their first DAP

Remember Sega? You know, the gaming company that was “replaced” by Microsoft in the 128bit era. Well, since they withdrew from the gaming hardware industry, they’ve been focused on developing titles for other consoles, and also on their arcade consoles and toys. This latest “toy”, is as average as you can get for a DAP. They call it the “Sound Carry Jewel” (well, at least it has a name, it’s better than those names that Sony has for their DAPs). It has a small screen, an SD card slot (no internal memory on the device) and a quite impressive battery life of 120h. It sort of reminds me of the Read more »

Vista is following Windows 95's path

Ed Bott, from ZDnet, recently wrote a really interesting article about how similar Windows Vista is to Windows 95. Although some people have started calling Vista a failure, or even calling it Windows ME2 (though personally I haven’t heard anyone calling it that), Bott compared Vista with 95, and from the past experience, he tells us what we can expect in the upcoming years. Here are the similarities between the two: Unachievable levels of hype A very long and public beta Initial compatibility, performance, and stability problems A beginning, not an end (by this he reffers to the “leap” into 64bit) And if all continues as it has until now, Read more »

Red vs Blue Comes to an End

After 100 episodes and four years, Red vs Blue, a popular online video, has come to an end. It is with great pride and personal pleasure that I present Red vs Blue’s 100th Episode, the final edition of The Blood Gulch Chronicles. It’s been a tremendous four years for everyone here at Rooster Teeth and every bit of that joy is due to the continued support of our audience. If RvB has brought any joy to your life, I can assure you that you have returned it tenfold to us. For that we say thanks and hope that you enjoy RvB Episode 100. I know we enjoyed making it, even Read more »

Quick Takes – Comic Book Reviews for 6/28/2007

Quick Takes – Comic Book Reviews for 6/28/2007

Fantastic Four #546 – I can see the conversation now….”Hey guys, we need the Silver Surfer and Galactus in Fantastic Four when the movie comes out.” the editor says. “Ok, does the story have to be any good?” “No, not really.” This book features the Silver Surfer, Galactus, has a huge cosmic feel to it, and what is the point of the thing? To bring Gravity back from the dead…not in a new role, or anything, it ultimately leaves him just as he was before he died…making deat – yet AGAIN – worthless in comic books. Grade: C Countdown #44 – This week’s edition of Countdown didn’t even merit its Read more »

Silver Surfer Requiem #2 (Marvel) – Comic Review

Silver Surfer Requiem #2 (Marvel) – Comic Review

It is very rare for a comic book to give one “chills”…but Silver Surfer Requiem is a very rare comic book. I do not believe, in the character’s entire history, that the Silver Surfer has ever been handled better by a creative team than the work that Michael J. Straczynski and Ribic have done with this series thus far. This book is a glowing reminder of everything that comic books can be. It is thought provoking, beautifully illustrated, and awe inspiring. There is no super villain. The only actual threat is the Surfer’s own mortality. The plot, in this issue, focuses on his desire to help the world in the Read more »

Google Documents gets folders

Google Documents gets folders

Google has just announced some exciting changes to the way that Google Documents works. First of all, they have finally added, after numerous requests, folders, for people that prefer to use them rather than tags. But not only have they added folders, but they also made it so that they work in the same way that tags do. Meaning that if you apply multiple tags to a file, it will reside in multiple folders. So I guess that what they did was basically turn tags into folders, although from a database point of view, it’s probably the same thing. [Via TechCrunch] Read more »

New Macbook Pros have a 1.3mp iSight

One of the things that wasn’t announced when Apple upgraded their Macbook Pro line was that the new laptops come with a 1.3megapixel iSight camera, instead of the VGA one that we’ve grown used to.  The bad news is that no applications take advantage of this yet, unless you make one yourself like the person who discovered this did, you won’t be able to fully take advantage of it unless Apple updates some of it’s applications.
