According to our sister blog, Apple Gazette, the reason why the YouTunes functionality isn’t available yet on the Apple TV is because YouTube is converting *all* of their videos to support the H.264 which is supported by device.

Since Apple fans, and bloggers, have a lot of imagination, there are now wild rumors going around that the iPhone might also have YouTube support, and that the feature might also make it to the next generation iPods.

It would be nice if I could hook up my iPod with YouTube and watch some short movies on the go. On the other hand, I don’t really think I’d use it that much. Eventually the iPod will be more than just a media player, as we slowly drift away from that notion, since most devices already support digital media formats.

I think that it’s a little too early for it frankly, and I don’t think that the iPod needs many more features to sell well, just increased capacity, battery life, and possibly larger screens for the ones that play video.
