I can’t even believe that Marvel made this movie without showing Galactus. I really can’t. It’s such a lame decision that I can only place the blame on corporate stupidity. Anyone with an ounce of love for Marvel history would never make such a stupid and easy creative decision.

That would have worked.

Doom still sucked though, too much of a Lex Luther lite for my taste. In the comics his power is his great mind, supreme arrogance and his rivalry with Reed Richards. No offence to the guy who played him but they should have gotten someone with a little more screen presence who could pull off the much needed darkness. Also he should have had a bit of an accent and his armour needed some cool stuff.

If Galactus does appear in a Silver Surfer spin-off (He wouldn’t have to appear in an FF sequel in any capacity…mainly because of the end of the flick), he will not appear in anyway faithfully to the comic, and the studios will not care one way or the other about irritating any of us.

Especially since the majority of the fan community insists on bitching about everything, all the time. This FF film was a good mix of the comics, plus studio “thinking”, and the result was an enjoyable movie, that happened to rake it in at the box office this weekend.

FF2 made more than FF1 on opening weekend….that means FF3 is on the way. The Silver Surfer spin-off will probably happen too, although something tells me that film might not be a success, no matter how well written/acted/directed it may be.

To me, a 30 foot tall man with Thing punching his ankles works in a comic from the 1960s…it does not work for a mainstream audience in a movie theater in 2007. It never will. You will never see that in a theater.

the filmakers wouldn’t have to have the Galactus costume be purple/red/magenta etc…. there’s no reason the costume couldn’t be kept faithful to the Galactus image in such a way as to not irritate fans of the comic…. Make the costume a dark color and have him standing 30+ feet tall – that would be more menacing than a Doctor Doom that looks like he bought his costume from one of those 70s companies that made those vinyl costumes with the plastic masks with the elastic band you put around your head. If they intend to do a sequel or a Silver Surfer spin-off I see no way they can get around having Galactus appear….

First off, they didn’t make Galactus a cloud. His ship was surrounded by atmosphere and rubble from a planet he had destroyed, which makes perfect sense for an object as large as his ship. It would have it’s own gravitational pull, so it makes sense that the remnants of other worlds would be there, still trapped around his ship.

Secondly, have you ever SEEN Galactus?!? (and this is coming from a Stan and Jack hardcore FF fan here) That giant purple helmet would NEVER work in a film. There is no way you could see Galactus in live action and not laugh your ass off.

Not showing him was the perfect way to do it.

If they had shown him, he would have looked nothing like Galactus, and you’d be complaining about that too.

This way, the Surfer refered to Galactus as “him”, indicating that he is not a cloud, but a humanoid figure. He then referred to Galactus’ ship as “it”. Indicating that they are not the same thing.

The movie was much closer to its comic book roots than the previous film. They’ll never be able to make it perfect…but for the most part, I was happy with what they did.

It should be against the law to make Galactus as a cloud. They missed out on something that could have made the film fantastic, (no pun intended). I hate the film makers for doing this, even though i don’t know them, just by making Galactus a cloud, I hate them.
