If you’re a fan of the Onimusha series of games, then chances are, you know that there is a movie in development. You probably also know that it’s from the same guy that directed Silent Hill – and because of that fact – you are also probably worried.
Well…stop.
For now, anyway. Why? Because Gans is doing his best to do right by the franchise, and by the fans of the game. There will, of course, be studio concessions and changes that have to be made to the overall story, but there is one key factor to the Onimusha franchise that is definitely going to stay in tact….actor Takeshi Kaneshiro.
Since the first game the character has been modeled after and voice by Kaneshiro (you probably know him best from “House of Flying Daggers”), and when asked if Kaneshiro would play the part, Gans replied, “Of course”.
Filming will begin in ’08, and there could be a full year of post production on the $70 million dollar flick, so don’t get too excited just yet…because they still have a long way to go, but for – at least – things are looking up for this project.
Well.. I shall look forward to seeing this film as I have played these games myself and love it. Especially when playing dressed as a panda..
well,I have to mention that takesi kanesiro(金城武) did not star in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. As the picture you shows, the movie is House of Flying Daggers(十面埋伏),by Chinese director Zhang Yimou.

TAKESHI KANESHIRO IN ONIMUSHA FILM.
Takeshi Kaneshiro will be reprise his role as Samanosuke in the Onimusha film, directed by Christophe Gans.
Gans has hired John Collee to helm the script but he should have hired two Japanese screenwriters Choko Sakai and Hirohisa Soda to helm the script
for the film.
Davis Films is producing with Japan’s Gaga Communications to produce the film and other Japanese film companies Hicott & Basara and Kadokawa Films
would be involved on the project.
Onimusha will be filmed in Mainland China and there will be alot of Asian actors and producers there to star in the film and there will be some producing the film.
