Pulp. Robots. Tesla. I’m there.
New comic book start-up, Red 5 Comics is launching this October with Atomic Robo, a sci-fi pulp inspired 6 issue mini-series. The series is created by Brian Clevinger of 8-bit Theater fame.
“Robots! Monsters! Explosions!” exclaimed Clevinger. “Evil geniuses and the lightning guns that kill them! That’s ATOMIC ROBO. We took everything that’s fun about pulps and brought it into the modern day.”
Atomic Robo is an automatic intelligence created by famed inventor Nikola Tesla in 1923. ROBO finds himself entangled in some of the 20th century’s most important events – from the Second World War, space race and civil rights movement, to the defense of Earth against all manner of catastrophes.
Everything about this title screams indy cool to me, and I love good independent comics.
You can find out more about it at the Red 5 Comics official site.
