Getting tired of playing Wii Tennis with your Miis, or of punching the hell out of your room mate? Well, ok, maybe you’re not tired of punching your room mate in the Wii Boxing game, but soon you’ll be able to do a lot more with your little white console.

According to Newsweek, Nintendo will announce on Wednesday that their will be new titles available for download that fully take advantage of the console’s hardware. This means, that all kinds of developers will soon be able to release their titles for Nintendo’s popular console with much less effort.

This type of deal has been working well for Microsoft and Sony, because both of their consoles have reasonably large hard drives, but how well will this work for the Wii, considering that it doesn’t have an internal hard drive. Will we soon see a firmware update that makes it compatible with external hard drive disks, or does Nintendo expect us to buy as many SD cards as we can?
