Sony Connect, the company’s attempt at an iTunes-like online media store, is dead. Over the next several months every aspect of the online media store, with the exception of the ebook division, will be phased out…as will the 20+ employees who make up the Connect team. They are being phased out to handle the needs of the floundering Playstation division of the company.
I can’t say that I ever used Sony Connect, mainly because I didn’t. I also can’t tell you I’m going to miss the division…because I’m not. Honestly, until I found out that it was closing, I had forgotten that it was even open…and I doubt that I’m the only one. I would imagine that’s why it’s closing up in the first place….
