Those of you waiting for Will Wright’s latest masterpiece will be sad to hear that the game has been postponed indefinitely. If you prefer to know when it was delayed to, according to Electronic Arts: “Spore has slipped out of fiscal 08 and into fiscal 09″. In other words, they have no intentions of releasing it anytime soon.
Given the number of demonstrations we’ve seen in the past few months, I find it very surprising that the game is being delayed for so long. My guess is that EA is either shifting their efforts to another, more profitable title, like the Sims, or like Brian Crecente guesses, they could be holding out for a dual launch on both PC and some consoles to maximize profit.

Sorry Battlefish, you won’t be playing on our computers anytime soon.

1This frustrates me to no end. It could also be that they are trying to make sure the new SimCity game gets lots of attention, or they are having a harder time making the full game than people originally realized. The demo’s were great at showing game play, but not the full effect of it running through the whole scenario.
I am so cranky now… Thanks a lot Griffith.

2I really don’t think this game will ever come out. I think it’s going to end up being a legend.

3I think Spore, although a great graphical achievement, is probably dead boring to play. Similar game was published once (Sim Life) and never got through.
Looks like somebody has been fulfilling a dream rather than following the market.
