Thunder…Thunder…Thundcats…HOOOOOOO!!!! Thundercats Movie on the way…

I was a huge fan of the Thundercats back in the 80s, but I can’t say that I find this news as compelling as you might think…

According to Dark Horizons a Thundercats movie is in development.

The original series story revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee their planet of Thundera after it’s destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer, bent on killing them off.

Sopocy’s script is described as an origin story expanding on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

Warner Bros. is developing this project, and the plot sounds fine. So far, everything sounds good. Except that fact that it’s a Thundercats movie….is that going to work in Live Action? I really don’t see how it could? Live action cat people? I don’t know…

I agree. I was a huge Thundercats fan as well, but I just can’t picture live action Thundercats NOT looking ridiculous.

They’d have to really tone down the cat features (especially Lion-O’s red ‘fro) to make it work.

Hey, if they can make a “Live-Action” squid-faced Pirate, they can make some cat-people who battle an evil sorcerer. They’re doing He-Man you know…

Yes, actually, there is a Voltron film in development right now as well, I believe. I think it was first, actually.
