Double Viking has an interesting list of the top ten most kick ass video game weapons, where they list things like the Kuribo’s Shoe from Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Zero-Point Energy Field Manipulator, aka. “Gravity Gun” from Half-Life 2.
People in the comments section noted that the famed BFG 9000 from Doom wasn’t listed, which I agree is a horrible omission. The list also lists things like the Queen from any chess game as a kick ass video game weapon. What kind of list is this?

1Such a list would not be complete without Unreal Tournament’s Redeemer. Especially the possibility of steering the rocket from barrel to impact (meanwhile seeing at all those petrified faces of doomed opponents) has brought many moments of joy to my living room.

2Maarten – I totally agree… that’s one of my favorite weapons as well… If only the enemies had facial expressions when they saw it coming towards them, that’d make me pee myself laughing.

3What about the Katamari?
Certainly it’s not considered a “weapon” to many, but even the BFG or the Redeemer don’t have the power to roll up entire buildings, continents, or even the sun! ( on the “final level” of “We Love Katamari”)
