The Korean cellphone company Pantech, has set it’s sights on Europe, where the cellphone market is outstanding, and has decided to release one of their most popular handsets, the Cocoon, for the European provider O2. The phone itself is a clam-shell type cellphone with some small features that make it different from other handsets of the same sort. Outside the handset there seems to be an “invisible” display which can show you things like the time or even a small word. On the side it has a dedicated speaker and media buttons like you’d expect from a DAP. It also appears to have a “scroll wheel” of some sort, which Read more »

Windows Vista on an old Pentium 4? Sure!
If you’re an XP or Windows 2000 user, who feels somewhat tempted into acquiring a new machine to be able to try out Vista, then you’ll be happy to hear that as long as you have 512 megabytes of RAM, a decent, even if old graphics card (in this demonstration, the computer had a Geforce 2), then you’ll be able to install Vista and have a machine that is, at the very least, able to do some word processing, or calculating tasks. This video demonstrates what I said in the paragraph above. And although I don’t really see the big advantages in upgrading to Vista for the sole purpose of Read more »
Sony and Italy get together for furniture
Even though Sony’s devices usually look mainstream, or futuristic, they usually don’t swing too far from that type of look. So what they decided to do was to hire Italian designers to come up with some new concept furnitures for the “future”. Some of the concept in the video are quite nice, like a lamp that you can plug your MP3 player too. But I honestly can’t see many people purchasing shelves with speakers. I could definitely see the table with a video projector (pictured above) taking off though, as long as you weren’t forced to purchase it with a particular video projector. Read more »
Nintendo DS Face Training videos
Remember the DS camera we talked about a while ago? Well, now you can watch it in motion thanks to two short videos. Video 1 | Video 2 Unless they include some fun camera software, like the one that came with the original Gameboy Camera, I have to admit that I’m a bit skeptical about this product’s success. Nintendo is on a high tide right now, but their last two generations of consoles have proved us that they can skill make some mistakes. Read more »
More on Spore: From TED Talks
In March, Will Wright spoke at TED and showed off a nearly complete video of what spore is like. The video is rather short, but it is looking much more polished all the time. Can they really have so much to do that I won’t see the game for another year (or never, according to my colleague Michael)? In a friendly, high-speed presentation, Will Wright demos his newest game, Spore, which promises to dazzle users even more than his previous masterpieces. Here Wright encourages users to create not households, as in The Sims, or cities, as in SimCity, but the entire universe, from single-celled life forms to galactic physics. While Read more »

Buffy Fans Rejoice! "Ripper" finally in development at BBC
Joss Whedon reported this weekend at Comi-Con that the often rumored “Ripper” series was now in development with the BBC as a 90 minute telefilm. “Ripper” is the story of Rupert Giles, Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s former mentor and “Watcher” after he returns home to England. There is no word on if the show will in anyway reference the Buffy “Season 8″ that is currently being published as a comic book from Dark Horse comics. Anthony Stewart Head, who played Giles for the entire run of Buffy, will return to the role he made famous in the telefilm. There is no word yet on when we will see it, or Read more »
RUMOR: DeLorean coming Back to our Future?
According to a recent article from the L.A. Times, the DeLorean could be headed back into production. Reportedly, the DeLorean Motor Company” is laying plans to bring the car back into limited production. Albeit on a very small scale. If everything pans out the company would be producing “20 or so cars a year”. There is no way to know how serious this is, and if it will ever truly happen, but if it does, I don’t think they’ll have any problem selling them. Read more »
Video Interview with Smallville's Supergirl
She’s hot. She’s a 2nd Degree Blackbelt. What’s not to love? Her name is Laura Vendervoort, and she really comes off well in this video. I’m very interested in what they’re going to do with Smallville this year… Read more »
MSI GX600 – a new gamer's laptop
Although my laptop is now 2 years old, and my desktop computer is even older, despite having a semi-modern graphics card, I haven’t had many problems even the most demanding games. And, in my opinion, the gap between computers and laptops, in terms of performance, has never been as small as it is now. This MSI GX600 is “living” proof of the previous statement, bearing the following specifications: PM965 Express, Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM @ 667MHz, Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB VRAM and a 15.5 inches WSXGA+ resolution and Webcam! It even comes with a button reminiscent of our old computers that puts the laptop in “Turbo mode”, Read more »
