Democracy Player, my favorite media tool on pretty much all of my computers, has changed its name to Miro.
The press release talks about Miro, and how the first version of Miro is just the last version of Democracy with tons of bug fixes, and that Miro will be working on creating a community. I am very excited to see what they do with the software, and I must say, their new website is very slick.
Here is more from the press release:
I am very excited to announce Miro, the new name of Democracy Player.
We’re still the same non-profit organization, the same people working on the project, the same open-source code. But we have a new name and a new logo that I think will reduce a lot of confusion (lots of folks thought ‘Democracy’ was only for political video) and will help us reach more people. With the new website, we also have a new focus on building our community. There’s all new forums, more ways to get involved, and more resources to use. Please take a look at the “Join In” page on getmiro.com and come be a part of the fight for open video online.
If you watch video on your computer at all, you’ll want to check out Miro.
