Have you ever wanted to make a phone call while swimming or just resting on one of those floating pool toys?
No? Well, neither have I, but apparently there seems to be a market for a device like that. A Japanese cellphone company called FOMA have just announced the F704i which is completely waterproof and can be taken down to 3 meters underwater.
Of course a phone of this sort wouldn’t make much sense unless it worked in other countries, when you go on vacation. You can also take some decent pictures with it’s 1.3Mp camera and listen or purchase MP3s with Napster.

This reminds me of the water-proof watch trend that went on in the 80’s, during which my friends would compete for whose watch would be taken to deeper depths. Perhaps in a year or so instead of competing for more Megapixels, we will compare our cellphones by how deep we can take them underwater.
