All of them still work, and I've never had compatibility problems with any of them. I can't speak for the HP one, but with the Samsung drive, I think you got a faulty model. Friday the 13th in fact. . I probably would have saved $100 in waiting, but oh well, it's in the case. Now when the optical drive gets here tomorrow (which I thought I ordered, but somehow didn't), I can finish installing the new hardware and start installing the software. Then I can tear out the stuff from the old computer I want to move over (another optical drive and two hard drives) and get those installed. Then I can copy over the data I want from an old drive, install, reformat and software install for the old computer for the kids to play on. I've been building my computers for decades now, so I'm used to it. And I'm getting a new optical drive because the HP that's supposed to do DVD+/-R won't do DVD-R - even burned!, and the Samsung burner is nice but refuses to recognize any of the CDs that it burns (but it works on every other drive I try them in!). The LG got good reviews, so I'm going to see how that one works out. /me raises hand.
