If you’re an Apple fan, then you’ll certainly be happy to hear that Samsung, and Hynix, will both be prioritizing the sale of their NAND flash modules for the Cupertino-based company. From 1GB to 32GB, you can be pretty sure that we will start seeing more flash memory than ever in Apple’s products.
Sources at Taiwan memory houses indicated that Hynix and Samsung began reserving more of their stock for Apple starting from July resulting a strain on supply to other customers. Both Hynix and Samsung had informed their customers in late June that supply in July will be constrained, citing the fact that Apple is about to pre-stock NAND flash to meet the coming seasonal upturn.
In fact, the main reason why I think that the iPod hasn’t been updated yet, is because Apple is waiting for NAND flash to become more affordable, so they may ditch Hard Drive Disk based iPods for a new line entirely based on flash models.
Does this mean that we will have new iPods before Christmas? Let the rumors run wild again…
