After you see the picture of this device, I don’t even need to tell you that it’s from Japan.
The Pop Up Pirate is one of Tomi’s most popular toys in Japan, and apparently SolidAlliance grouped up with Cube Works to develop a new version of the popular toy which doubles as a 4 port USB hub.

In my opinion, I think that this hub would be much funnier if all of the “holes” were USB ports. Not that I need that many, but it would be funny to have a random change of making the Pirate pop up when you plug in some USB device.
If you want to see another related device, but much weirder, then feel free to check out this video (and the second part) of a Japanese TV character called “Hard Gay”. It’s not as bad as it sounds, I found it hilarious. But just to be on the safe side, don’t watch it at work.

1This would scream “Japanese toy” a bit more loudly if it were a buxom anime character… or even Hello Kitty… instead of a pirate.
