First off, let me say that I don’t think it’s fair to call this phone, or any other phone with a touchscreen a “rip off” of the iPhone. Apple didn’t invent the touch screen, they just made it popular. Obviously, the device has been inspired by the demand for the iPhone, but from what I can tell, it’s a vastly different device.
First, it lacks the iPhone UI, which – let’s face it – is the primary selling point of the iPhone. This Samsung model will feature the web, email, and connect through EDGE or Wi-Fi, but will also add unlicensed mobile access. It will feature 3 megapixel camera, and only 50 Mbs of storage. It will, however, have a microSD slot for expandability.

Touchscreen phones are going to be very popular over the next few years, so get used to seeing them. It will be interesting to see how they evolve during that time. Everytime I look at my iPhone I feel like I’m holding a Padd from Star Trek, and I’m sure with the industry behind the touchscreen, that may be just where we’re headed.

1It’s amazing how little people consider the overall interface of a certain device, and just pay attention to the specifications. I’m certain that somewhere on the internet there’s a blog post saying that the phone above, or a similar one, is the iPhone killer.
There is a market for the iPhone, and there’s also a market for the phone above, but they aren’t the same one.
If people really want a slice of the iPhone’s popularity, they need to understand better why people buy it. Here’s a newsflash to those companies: it isn’t because of the 2 megapixel camera, nor because of it’s design alone.
