The State of Blu-Ray is NOT GOOD

The State of Blu-Ray is NOT GOOD

Let me start by saying that I’m choosing HD-DVD in the format wars. I want to be clear about that upfront, because I have mentioned it in previous posts. HD-DVD has the content that I want to see in Hi-Def on my TV – so that’s what I’m choosing. Having said that – I don’t hate Blu-Ray, or want it to “lose” for any particular reason. I know there are some Sony/Blu-Ray fanboys out there that are never going to except that, since I’m about to say some negative things about Blu-Ray, but I honestly have no bias towards either format. If HD-DVD loses, I’ll get over it. My Xbox360 Read more »

'Family Guy' headed to Xbox Live Marketplace

'Family Guy' headed to Xbox Live Marketplace

Microsoft and Fox inked a deal that will bring Fox shows, including the greatest cartoon comedy on television (IMHO, as always) to the Xbox Live Marketplace. Starting September 2, 360 owners will be able to get episodes from the first two seasons of Family Guy from the Marketplace for 160 Microsoft Points ($2).  More Fox shows will follow later.  Granted, you can pick up the first two seasons on DVD and pay less all around, but if you’re looking to buy one episode at a time, it’s a great option. The Evolution of the Wii Controller

The Evolution of the Wii Controller

Ever wanted to know how the Wii-mote evolved into its current state? Those goofballs over at Gizmodo have an exclusive article that showcases the sketchbook of the designer of the Wii controller. The image above is only one of the collection of sketches in the article. You can see the rest of it by clicking here. Read more »

First Zune 2 pictures leaked?

First Zune 2 pictures leaked?

Gizmodo recently got hold of a picture that showcases the upcoming Zune 2 and Zune “Flash” players. Obviously this isn’t official, but it looks realistic enough to deserve an article of it’s own. If this turns out to be the real deal, then there will be a flash-based 80GB model, and 3 flash-based models with 2, 4 and 8GB of capacity. I’m not a big fan of the Zune, but even so, these players still look a bit better than the “Fat Nano” picture that’s going around the internet. Read more »

LG unveil new touchscreen DAP and DMB

LG unveil new touchscreen DAP and DMB

I almost feel sorry for posting this straight after the DAP announced before it, but in any case, LG has just unveiled it’s newest DAP, the T54, which feels more like a true next generation media player than the Sony one. This shinny player comes with a wide array of functions, and although the DMB is useless for all Americans, the rest of the features are what you’d expect from an average portable media player: 2.4 inches screen, DMB, FM radio, E-Book, MP3, OGG, WMA, WAV, ASF (audio) and AVI, WMV for the video. Don’t worry, besides green, the player will also be available in orange, blue and black. As Read more »

Sony unveils it's newest DAP

Sony unveils it's newest DAP

Just a week before Apple unveils it’s new iPod line, Sony has decided to introduce a new digital audio player and… well… it’s quite plain. This new player features a QVGA screen, FM tuner, and supports the following audio and video formats: AAC, MP3, WMA and MPE4, H.264. Compared to the current offers by Apple, Samsung and Sony itself, I really think that this player is a step down from the current models. Read more »

Resident Evil Extinction Trailer

After Harry Potter and Transformers, it appears that we will have a small drought before the next must-see movie for geeks. Although I’m not a big fan of the first Resident Evil movies, this one looks a bit more interesting than them. The movie will debut at the end of September, so if watching a hot babe slaying zombies and other horrendous creatures is your “thing” then look forward to it. Read more »

Are you a Digger? Wanna be Friends?

Are you a Digger? Wanna be Friends?

A few weeks ago I posted an article on Apple Gazette about befriending some of the readers there on Digg. Quite a few joined up, and it’s been fun watching what they digg, and viewing the stories they submit, so I thought I would extend the invitation to Forever Geek readers as well. Digg has been around for a while, and I’m sure most of you are very much aware of the site…but it’s only recently that I’ve actually begun using the site to look at news on a daily basis. I know the friends feature has been a big part of Digg – even more so since the site Read more »

PS2 – Now Available in White – and with a horrible game ta boot!

PS2 – Now Available in White – and with a horrible game ta boot!

To those of you just determined to stay in the pre-generation of gaming, check out the new bundle that Sony is putting out. For the low, low price of $149, you get all that you see above…a pearly white slim PS2, a pearly white PS2 controller a couple of jet black microphones and the critically acclaimed (um….) SingStar game. I guess this could make sense for someone on a tight budget…or something. But, seriously, either save your money for the PS3 or 360, or drop an extra $100 for the Wii.
