The event that everyone is talking about is now official. And the invitation’s tagline is:

It’s certainly a reference to music, and possibly a reference to the Beatles who will finally become available in the iTunes music store.
As for the new iPods. According to some rumors and some mockups or leaked photos, one of the iPods will have a widescreen, which occupies approximately 50% of the front area, and the other will have a touchscreen and a modified version of Mac OS X.
Some sources are also reporting that the new iPods will have Wifi incorporated, and will be able to remotely control iTunes. But no one has given a more distinct confirmation, so it could very well be just speculations. When the “new” iPods were announced last year, we also heard similar rumors.
My iPod Nano is nowhere near retirement, but if given much more capacity in just about the same size, I would certainly be tempted to purchase a new one. What about you? Are you eager for the new iPods to come out? And if so, are you going to purchase one?

1If it’s wifi compatible you think it will be able to access most websites? I’ve been dying to have an mp3 player that can also get to a site like mediamaster.com, where I downloaded all my music, and now can access it anywhere. Once Apple delivers me something like that, then you’ll see me getting excited.
