Although it was only a matter of time before a 16GB player emerged, it seems that that time is now, and Creative has launched in Singapore, with the rest of the world to follow, a 16GB version of their Zen V player with a black finish and 16GB of capacity.

The price, after converted to USD will be of approximately $260, which is more or less the same price we pay for a 30GB iPod, and unless Apple hurries up and updates it’s iPod line, I think that this player might sell really well.
The question is, is Apple intentionally waiting for flash memory to become more affordable to replace their entire line with flash memory players, or will we still see another generation of hard-drive based players from them?

1I must be missing something. This is more expensive than the 30gb zen vision and ipod… whats the point?

2What you’re missing is that this is a solid-state flash-based device. The 30GB devices mentioned are hard-drive based, which means heavier and more prone to breakage or skipping due to their mechanical nature. Compare it instead to the iPod nano 8GB for $250.
