there is a perfectly logical reason why the ipod shuffle has NO display.
cos it shuffles!
and if you shuffle trough you music you do NOT need a display. EASY.

and if you DO WANT A display, you just will NOT buy an ipod shuffle. SIMPLE

IF the ipod shuffle would get a display in the future…the name wouldnt fit it anymore.

it is as simple as that.

and IF all your decisions would be dead cold logical you ALL would buy only ONE mp3 player! namely the best one! and which is the best one? NO CLUE. do not care!

i’m happy to have a choice and be able to choose my mp3 player for alot of reasons like: display, sound quality, price, colour, design, headphones, envy, fanatism, etc.
and MAYBE some will buy the ugliest mp3 player just cos of it sound quiality, or the worst just cos it looks good! wonderful! thats why there is choice!

GET IT?! stop fighting and enjoy music!

Every cheap 512Mb/1Gb MP3 player is a Shuffle-killer. The Shuffle sucks, it has next to no interface, and is overpriced for its’ storage capacity.

I can see the value in say, an iPod Video, but I have no idea why anyone would buy a Shuffle apart from sales hype or brand name.

Gareth – I disagree. With the regular iPod companies were trying to compete with Apple’s interface and no one could match it. This is different, the shuffle was known specifically for being small. It’s annoying that it has no interface(I have one). The sandisk solves a few problems.

First of all, it has a screen so I can actually see what music I’m playing. They aren’t have to compete with the Shuffle’s interface since there is no interface.

Second, it has an FM tuner. May not seem important to some, but while at the gym, if you want to be able to watch a tv show while working out(I know I know, but a lot of people do it), you need to have an FM tuner to tune into the sound of the show. This will attract a lot of folks.

And third, it’s actually a good bit cheaper(although Apple might come in with a price drop after this). I actually tried to order one already for use with my daily workout but don’t think they can quite be ordered yet.

Just as with every other iPod / iPod mini / iPod nano / iPod shuffle / iPhone / iTunes killer that has been touted as such in the media over the last 5 years, there is a very simple answer:

NO.

The media need to get over the idea of “killers”, and start to understand how and why certain products are successful, and why other products fail, and then make a serious analysis.
