Windows users have never had it this easy to purchase a great gaming machine for such low prices, and the gap between laptop and desktop’s performance has never been as small as it is now. Although this new notebook isn’t very affordable, I’m certain that it could beat most of our reader’s desktops in terms of performance, thanks to it’s Quad Core processor and great Nvidia graphics card.

the Xtreme 917V is based on the Taiwan-born Clevo D900C and scales up to a 2.66GHz Core 2 Quad reportedly fast enough for gamers and professional workstations. In contrast to a few versions of the 17-inch design, however, the company also offers a 512MB GeForce 8700M GT chipset as an option for DirectX 10-class 3D as well as up to dual 512MB GeForce Go 7950 GTX chipsets for raw speed.

As if this wasn’t enough, this laptop also comes with a 750gb HDD, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, and an NTSC/PAL hybrid TV tuner. Yeah… this is definitely better than what most of us have at home.

The price for this little beast starts off at $2,399 for a model with a 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo and a GeForce Go 7950 GTX, or $3,359 for a 2.66GHz Core 2 Quad and twin video chipsets.

Although the laptop’s design is miles behind most models in the market today, if you’re looking for a portable device with those specifications then you can’t be too picky about how the machine looks like. This sounds like a perfect machine for the avid Windows gamer, or 3D graphics artist.

I’m neither of those, so I’ll wait for the new Macbooks to arrive. But if you are, right now this is the best you can get.
