There are two types of obligatory articles that emerge, whenever a popular gadget comes out. The first one is the “unboxing” article, be it with videos or photos, these types of articles tend to get a lot of traffic during the first days. The second type, is the “open up the gadget” kind. And this time it’s brought by AppleInsider, who took apart the new iPods to have a look at them.

There’s nothing shocking about it’s inside, and the differences are small compared to the older models. The Nano continues to use Samsung flash memory, and the new iPod Classic comes with a Toshiba hard drive.

Ironically, the pictured I liked the most was not the one of the Nano’s entrails, but instead, one of the whole “Nano family”. It’s funny how their design choice keeps going around in circles. First we had the “brushed metal” Mini, then the shinny first gen model, then brushed metal again, and so on…
