Aiptek A-HD is officially the cheapest HD camcorder out there, at $169.99. The first red flag I see is the 2.4-inch 4×3 LCD viewscreen – when the camera shoots in 1280×720 16×9. Seems like that doesn’t make much sense. I haven’t tried this camera, or its big brother, but Gizmodo seems to thing this is the crappiest camera in the history of time.
If you’ve played with an Aiptek, I’d love to know what you think about it. I’d like to have a small pocket camera that could shoot HD, but I have to wonder if it can do it with any level of quality at this price.

1As I own this hybrid, and had it for around a month, I find that it does a great job no matter what a person may or may not like about aiptek?
info is not corect when viewing in person on the box?
2x digital zoom Fixed lens, future 32 gig sdhc, Interpolation. this info was left out in a way
4x digital zom it is not it is actualy 2x wishing they just added a 2x optical?
fixed lens corrected the issue that the Go-Hd, with AF (auto focus) had always trying ot focus? Interpolated 5 meg is default interpolated to 8 meg?
I believe the low light is poorr but better than the MPVr models, but not as best as the GO-HD?
If you seen the GO in action than you have a choice a A-Hd at 150.00 or the got at 230 plus
I choose the A-HD with the AV input over the Go-HD it is a great camcorder in my eyes?

2When I bought this “camcorder” the first complaint I had was the terrible mic,I mean some distortion was to be expected, but imo this was in- excusable.I mean I should at least be able to hear a person talking in a closed moving car.I tried a few simple microphone hacks, with limited success but then I found a firmware update, which is not actually available to the public yet.
After applying the patch, everything now works fine, amazing what a little code can do,the mic sounds perfect..and even after being dropped a few times it still functions normally. This camera should not have been released without this patch. That said..I love this camera, and with the addition of a third party magnetic wide angle lens,it makes this a camera a must have .
