A company called Messiah have just revealed pictures of an upcoming IR remote for the Playstation 3, which works by plugging the IR-receiver to the console via USB and pointing at it. The same IR receiver also doubles as a dock to recharge it’s internal battery.

The product will ship September 25th and you can preorder it now for $30. I never understood why the Playstation 3, or 2’s remote control had so many buttons, but I’m glad that someone in the industry is taking notes and bringing and much simpler and good looking device. If I had a Playstation 3, this is the remote I’d buy.

1Looks great. i still havent got a remote for my PS3 yet, i need one badly. But this one does NOT have a “Power Off” button which is very disappointing, thats one of the main reasons for a remote, dont get off your seat/bed lol. Im still going to buy the Official PS3 remote when i have a little change. Im saving for a few games that are coming up and ive already paid off my PSPslim :)

2This looks quite cool and cheep too. The official PS3 remote does look like a better option and it should have a power off button
