Police

It is not very often that police and technology related subjects reach the mainstream, but that is exactly what happened today with 2 interesting news.

  • 1 – Dutch Police raids illegal DVD plant – This so called DVD plant was able to record 900 copies per hour, impressive to say the least. Examples of the movies being copied: Ocean’s 13, Evan Almighty, Die Hard 4.0.

Here we have a clandestine factory operating in a major western economy producing huge volumes of product.

An interesting point about piracy is that China is on the top list, closely followed by Mexico, Brazil, and Spain.

  • 2 – German Police arrests 10 in global Internet scam raids – Finally some good news, there are 10 less phishers on the internet. The phishing method used by this group of Russians, Ukrainians and Germans, consisted in sending emails with a trojan horse as an attachment that records keystrokes.
