The folks at arstechnica have been getting quite a few rumors right, and this latest one straight from their mole hints at a new PS3 model which will replace the 60gb one and give the PS3 and even lower entry price.
Here is what the mole expects Sony to give us this holiday season:
* 80GB PlayStation 3: $499.99
* 40GB PlayStation 3: $399.99
* Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray movie pack in with one, or both
* PlayStation 2: $99.99
I find it odd that the 60gb model was dropped to make way to a lower capacity one, but if it proves to have the same features as the 80GB model, then I think that this might help the console regain some of it’s market share. And the new Playstation 2 price drop, demonstrates that there’s still some life left in the system.
If I were to pick a favorite console out of all of the current ones in the market, the Playstation 2 would definitely be it for it’s incredible game library.

This new model means squat to Australians when the 60GB still sells for $959AU here.
How about dropping the price, Sony!
Side note: The Xbox 360 sells for around $650AU

Overpriced console is overpriced, people will either pay premium for the best, or want to get it for as cheap as they can.
I agree with doughnut up there, how about an Aussie price drop, I could buy a really decent computer with $1k, not a shitty gaming console whose only decent games are the next Tekken, Lego Star Wars, and Lego Indiana Jones.
