At the beginning of August, Microsoft announced that it’s next version of Office for the Mac was being delayed until January of 2008.
Obviously this didn’t please all of the Mac users who were waiting for it’s release. Although the team claims to be working very hard on it, they (or someone working with/for them) had the time to release a new website called Art of Office, which is a social website for people who want to share their helpful or beautiful documents on the internet.
Although the team claims that Art Of Office didn’t delay Office 2008’s release by “even a day”, it certainly wasn’t a bright idea to release an “Art” website for the Mac Office users, when most of them would rather have the product out sooner, or at least have some general idea of what Office 2008 will really do.
Some of the subscribers also pointed out that most of the posts on Microsoft’s Office for Mac blog hardly say anything about the product itself. I won’t go as far as standing by one of the comments that says that they completely broke all connections with their community, but they certainly aren’t going in a right direction.
Office is one of Microsoft’s most profitable products. And seeing them handling themselves so poorly, with a market of people who first mistrust them, is just shameful.
