Gunslot, a website which specializes on, well, guns… recently posted the list of the 25 best selling games of all time, though with an odd choice of placing the best selling game in 1st place. In any case, it’s surprising to see how much Nintendo dominates the list, with 17 titles, which is a feat that no other company can be proud of.
Even very famous titles, such as Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy 7, or other gems like Gran Turismo, are buried beneath the phenomenon which is Pokemon… I leave you with the cover image of my favorite title of the list.

I find it difficult to believe Mario 1 isn’t on there. I mean, there were SIXTY MILLION NESs in the 80s, and every one I ever played had a Mario cart close by…
Nice to see SMB3 up there, way above all these fancy shmancy new-fangled touchscreen and wireless-enabled consoles. Real games machines have 4 directions and 2 buttons!
As stated in the intro to the article, games bundled in with systems are not included with this list. Though at least 40 million Super Mario Bros. cartridges were made and placed into the systems of consumers, they were not sold individually.
I’m surprised Half-Life 2 didn’t make it on the list. Though we all generally have different tastes, pretty much everyone agrees that HL2 is awesome. I’ve only played a demo of it and some mods, but wow. Being able to pick up and throw saw blades at people and have them chop off limbs is one of the most awesome ideas in a game ever.
Also, where’s the original Legend of Zelda? It was the first video game I remember playing at home when I was growing up.
its interesting to see what types of games that made the list
