I’m beginning to think he actually IS in the movie, and all this crap is a smoke screen.

I think he’s just blathering on in hopes that they’ll give him a part because they’re sick of his whining.
Bill is so awesome. I love that he doesn’t take himself so seriously anymore. I have so much more respect for him after seeing him in Boston Legal!!!! I’d love for him to play a less than serious part in the S.T. film. That would make it so much better!!!
I agree with Jim. It would be fun for him to have a bit part, like a “lifer” ensign in engineering or something :)
I think William Shatner is telling the truth, though. It’s more likely that he is simply showing his frustration toward stupid (and over-asked) questions rather than there being some covert PR agenda.
