Zipit has released a second version of their wireless messenger device, called the Z2. Essentially, this is a handheld that focuses soley on Instant Messengering. It works with AOL, Yahoo! and MSN – so you can hold multiple chats at once, and it also allows you to play music from the ‘net or an SD card with its My Tunez application, and view Photos with another app as well.
At first I had a hard time figuring out just who is going to pay $149.99 for this thing. I still have a hard time with it – but I supposed the market for it could be kids? I don’t know. I certainly wouldn’t carry a device like this around – and I don’t expect anyone with the cellphone that has IM on it (which most of them do) would want this either…so I’m guessing kids it is.
It works over Wi-Fi, and will be available next month.
