9rules launches it's sixth version: Ali2

The 9rules network which started as nothing more but a place to find great content on the web has evolved a lot during the past few years. When they announced their last version, called Ali, back in February, they stepped into the social scene, and during 2007 the site became one of the best places to commune with people on any given subject.

The newest version, codenamed Ali2, is nothing more than a stronger affirmation that 9rules is a social website, as it introduces a lot new features like sub-communities called Cliques for people with specific interests like World of Warcraft, and a new Digg-like system called “Clips”, where users can vote on the favorite articles that their friends submitted (you can’t vote for any article, only the ones that your contacts posted).

Add a few more features like custom header-backgrounds, Last.fm/del.icio.us/flickr/Twitter integration in your user profile and you can pretty much use 9rules as a hub for some of the most popular web services currently available, and interact with a pleasant community (by today’s standards at least).

  1. I don’t get the point of linking to the Wikipedia article on 9rules, as opposed to say, the About page on the 9rules web site.

    Nice new site, though.

At the time I wrote the article, for some weird reason I was having trouble accessing their About page, that’s why I linked to the Wikipedia entry. I’ll edit it in a few seconds :)

  3. Mike Rundle says:

Griffith & Dylan, that was our fault. Switching a billion line htaccess file at once is always fun and sometimes we miss some URLs. All should be good now though, and thanks a lot for the writeup!

I don’t support 9rules. It’s not the same as it was.
