Amazingly to me, it has already been a year since YouTube was purchased by Google and to celebrate that anniversary, TechCrunch decided to take a look at all of its competition.
These are the services we looked at: blip.tv, Brightcove.tv, ClipShack, Crackle, DailyMotion, Sony eyeVio, Google Video, Megavideo, Metacafe, Motionbox, Revver, Spike (ifilm), Stage6, Veoh, Viddler, Vimeo, Yahoo Video, and YouTube.
Since they are all about 80% the same, I’m not going to go through each of them one-by-one at length. However, there are some overall trends that ought to be pointed out, as well as some key differentiators.
They take a very interesting look at the video sharing sites, and show off their video interfaces. Should YouTube be worried? TechCrunch enjoys Blip.tv. I, personally, enjoy Stage6’s DivX platform.

1I actually came across a pretty cool music site the other day that may give Google/Youtube a run for their money. It’s a video sharing site that’s also a social network like Facebook or Myspace. Anyway, it’s called woozyfly.com. I keep it up in my browser so I can listen to music videos while I work, but it looks like there’s a lot of other stuff you can do on the Site too. Just thought I’d put it out there fo all the music junkies like me!
