Let’s get the really boring on out of the way first…

The Looj is designed to clean out your gutters. You put it in your gutters, it cleans them out, tank style, spitting the debris over the side…then it comes back to you. It’s $99 – and if you have gutters…you probably want one…if you don’t…you couldn’t care less.

The other robot, however, is the ConnectR…and it’s something else entirely.

From the Engadget article:

You can “virtually visit” friends and family by controlling the WiFi-connected bot remotely, with live video, audio, controls and sensor data. The camera tilts and zooms, and has a zoom mode high resolution enough for reading text. You can transmit your voice through the bot, and control an LED light to convey mood. ConnectR launches next year for $499, and will be available in a pilot program for $199 to select beta-testing users.

This really shows off iRobot’s intentions for the future of their little droids…and this is one that I am very interested in learning more about. This was all brought about during iRobot’s keynote at D last week…but I missed it somehow.
