[...] Forever Geek is reporting that the new Sony E-Book Reader has been announced. I love E-Books; a lot of things I read online end up as PDF files so I can read them when I want. I would love to have a good, portable, E-Book Reader that allowed me to view e-books, txt files, PDF files, etc. As Forever Geek notes, $300 is still very pricey for such a device. That is a lot of paperbacks! When this thing goes down even further in price, I’ll be first in line. However, until then, I can’t get behind it. Bookmark to: [...]

From other reviews I've read apparently it's still quite slow; but ultimately it's price is still way too high - for the price I might be tempted to buy an iPod and a stack of audio books instead - or a PDA and used Microsoft Reader. I haven't seen the quality of the screen but is it really worth the hefty price addition?

It's a shame because I too really like the idea as there is nothing quite like sitting and reading a book and I would so like this idea to catch on.

Jason.

A new e-book Reader, for an all-new generation of people who prefer to pay $6 for a paperback instead of $300 for another gadget.

for that price one can get a nice stack of paper backs.

but, if it can do pdf files nicely, this may be a option for porting around large stacks of documentation on different topics. but i guess most people today do that one a laptop or similar device.
