Despite being one of the main supporters of HD-DVD, it seems Toshiba still hasn’t decided to launch a portable HD-DVD player, and instead decided to release this “handbag” portable DVD player.

Besides playing DVDs this player supports DivX, MP3 and WMA files, and has a screen resolution of 800×480 pixels across a 12″ screen. But those specifications don’t come cheap, as this player will set you back $620/€430 and weighs a hefty 3.5kg.

Personally, I find this player too “ugly” and heavy for my taste, but perhaps the construction feels more solid than the other laptop-like portable DVD players we see on the market.
