Viewsonic recently announced 4 new LCD monitors, of which three are widescreen, with specifications that beat most of the high-range LCD monitors I currently see on sale where I live.
The widescreen models have screens with 19, 20 and 22 inches, and the 16:9 model is 19″ big. All of these screens have a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits of brightness and a response time of 5ms. You can connect these monitors to your computer or laptop with a VGA or DVI output.

But before you decide to sell your liver for a screen with such characteristics tell the doctor to hold his scalpel, because all of these screens have prices that are under €300 (approximately $427 USD).
Although the screens might not have a design that is as good as Samsung’s, the image quality on these should compensate for what it may lack aesthetically.
